Usually failed hangers or debris weight that overloaded them — and often a fascia board softening behind it. The lean is the symptom; the anchor is the problem.
It drips or streaks at a joint
Seams and corners are where sectional gutters leak first. A little sealant buys time, but a joint that keeps opening is telling you the run has moved.
Water stands in the gutter after the rain stops
Standing water means the slope is wrong — too flat or pitched away from the downspout. Ponding breeds moss, adds weight, and speeds corrosion.
A downspout is crushed, disconnected, or dumping at the wall
A dented or detached downspout, or one discharging right at the foundation, undoes everything the gutter above it is trying to do.

We re-hang sagging sections with new hidden hangers, re-pitch runs that pond, re-seal or rebuild leaking seams and corners, and repair or replace damaged downspouts and elbows — and we fix the discharge so water leaves the property instead of pooling at the footing. When the fascia behind the gutter is rotted, we say so and price that too, because bolting a good gutter to a bad board just fails again. And if a sectional run has failed at every seam, we'll show you why a seamless replacement of that run costs less over time than chasing leaks joint by joint.

Most gutter repairs run a few hundred dollars — resealing a seam, re-hanging a run, or swapping a damaged downspout. What moves it: height and access, how many sections have moved, and whether the fascia behind them has rotted and needs replacing too. Gutter Repair: straight answers
My gutter is pulling away from the house — why?
Almost always failed hangers, and often a fascia board that's gone soft behind it. Debris weight and standing water overload the anchors, they let go, and the run sags and pulls off. We re-anchor into sound wood — and if the fascia itself is rotted, re-hanging into it just fails again, so we'll price fixing that too.
Can a leaking seam be repaired, or do I need new gutters?
One or two leaking joints are usually a straightforward reseal or rebuild. But sectional gutters leak at seams by design, so if yours are opening up at joint after joint, you're going to keep chasing them. That's the point where replacing that run with seamless — no mid-run joints to fail — actually costs less over a few years. We'll tell you honestly which situation you're in.
Water pools in my gutter instead of draining. Is that fixable?
Yes — ponding means the slope is off, either too flat or pitched away from the downspout. We can usually re-hang the run to the right pitch, roughly a quarter inch of fall for every ten feet, so it drains fully. If the run is old and fighting us the whole way, we'll say when replacing it is the better spend.
Do you fix downspouts and where they drain, too?
Yes. We repair or replace crushed and disconnected downspouts and elbows, and we fix the discharge — getting water four to six feet off the foundation into extensions, buried drains, or a dry well. A perfect gutter dumping straight down at the footing is still a wet-crawlspace problem, so we treat the whole path, not just the trough.
