Water spills over the front edge in every hard rain
Once gutters overflow in normal rainfall, resealing won't fix it — the system is undersized, unpitched, or too far gone to hold.
Sections sag, pull away, or leak at the seams
Sectional gutters fail at every joint and every hanger. When the joints are spreading and the spikes are backing out, you're maintaining a failure.
The fascia behind the gutters is soft or stained
Overflowing or back-pitched gutters rot the fascia and drip edge they hang from. That's the real reason a replacement can't be skipped forever.
You just put on a new roof
Twenty-year-old gutters under a brand-new roof is a mismatch. Replacing both together gets the drip-edge integration exactly right and saves a second mobilization.
Your options
A gutter is only as good as how it's hung
5" and 6" seamless aluminum K-style formed on-site for continuous runs with no mid-run seams to fail. Heavier-gauge aluminum or steel where ice and debris load are severe, copper where the architecture earns it. But the visible gutter is the easy part — we check the fascia for rot, hang on hidden hangers every 24" into solid wood, pitch every run toward the outlets, and place downspouts where the water actually concentrates instead of where the old ones happened to be.

We look at sizing, pitch, outlet placement, and the condition of the wood behind the old gutters — because rotted fascia is a repair that has to happen before, not after.

Tear off and repair
Old gutters down, fascia and drip edge inspected and repaired where needed, at pricing you approved before the truck arrived.

Form, hang, and flow-test
Continuous runs formed on-site, pitched to drain fully, then we run water through the finished system before we call it done.

Most full seamless replacements run in the low-to-mid four figures, driven by linear footage, story height, downspout count, and any fascia repair we find. Bundled with a roof replacement, the shared mobilization comes off your price — ask for the combined number.

Can't I just reseal or re-hang the gutters I have?
Sometimes — if the gutters are sound and the only issue is a loose hanger or a tired seam, we'll say so and do the smaller job. Replacement earns its cost when the metal itself is undersized, back-pitched, or corroded, or when the fascia behind it is failing.
Do you replace the fascia and drip edge too?
We inspect both as part of every replacement and repair what's rotted before the new gutters go up — hanging good gutters on bad wood just moves the failure. Any fascia work is priced and shown to you before we start.
5-inch or 6-inch — how do you decide?
From your actual roof, not a default. Moderate roof area drains fine on 5"; large planes, steep pitches, and long valley-fed runs want 6" with larger downspouts. We size from the geometry that's actually shedding water onto each run.
Do gutters have to come off when I re-roof?
Not always — we can protect sound gutters during tear-off. But if they're near end-of-life, replacing both together nails the drip-edge detail and saves you paying to mobilize a crew twice.
