Fixed picture windows in vinyl, fiberglass, or wood-clad frames, sized as large as the structure allows. Custom geometric shapes — half-rounds, quarter-rounds, full circles, trapezoids, triangles, and octagons — built to fit gable peaks, angled walls, and transoms. Combination units pair a big fixed center with operating flankers so you get the view and the ventilation. Low-E coatings tuned for our heating-dominated climate, argon fills, and laminated glass where a large pane wants extra strength or noise control. We spec them as design elements, not afterthoughts — a picture window is often the face of the room.

How we do it

Measure, template, and spec
Rectangles get measured; shapes get templated. We confirm the geometry, glass package, and how the unit reads from inside and out before anything is ordered.

Install square, insulate, and seal
Old unit out, opening checked for rot, new glass set true, insulated around the frame, and flashed — a large fixed pane is unforgiving of an out-of-square opening, so we take the time.

Inspection walkthrough
We check the seal, the sightlines, and the finish with you before we sign off. Fixed glass should look effortless and disappear into the view.

A fixed picture window can cost less per square foot than an operating unit of the same size — fewer moving parts — while custom geometric shapes cost more because the glass and frame are made to your template. Do fixed windows really save money over operating ones?
Often, yes, at the same size — there's no sash, hardware, or moving seal to build or fail, so a picture window can cost less and insulate better than an operable unit. The trade-off is simple: it doesn't open. That's why we frequently pair a big fixed center with operating flankers.
Can you build a true arch or circle, not a boxed-in fake?
Yes — we template the opening and order the glass and frame to the actual curve or angle, whether it's a half-round over a door, a full circle in a gable, or a trapezoid following a vaulted ceiling. The shape is the point; we don't hide a rectangle behind trim.
Won't a big picture window make the room cold?
Not the way it used to. Low-E coatings, argon fill, and a warm-edge spacer let a large pane hold heat far better than old single- or clear double-glazing. West of the Cascades that's usually enough; on the east side we'll talk through triple-pane if the wall faces the winter.
Can a picture window be combined with windows that open?
That's one of the most common things we build — a fixed picture center flanked by casements or double-hungs, or a shaped transom over an operating unit below. You get the daylight and view from the fixed glass and the ventilation from the operators, all in one clean assembly.
