Ice Dam Problem Solved with Standing-Seam Metal
The problem
A South Hill 1978 rancher grew three-foot icicles every January and had ceiling staining in two rooms. Two previous contractors had quoted shingle replacements — treating the symptom, not the attic heat loss driving it.
What we did
Air-sealed the attic bypasses, brought insulation to R-49, balanced the ventilation, then installed standing-seam metal with high-temp ice-and-water membrane at eaves and valleys and engineered snow retention over the entry.
The result
First winter: no ice dams, no icicles, and a heating bill roughly 15% lighter. The roof itself is warrantied for decades the owner won't have to think about.
“Everyone else quoted me shingles. These guys explained why my attic was the problem, fixed that too, and the icicles just... stopped.”
